Sacked techies in US eye change in visa status

Struggling to find a new job within the 60-day grace period, many laid off IT professionals are now mulling converting the status of their H1B visa to continue living in the United States. While those with a spouse who have a valid H1 are looking at H4 (dependant) as a possibility, some others are looking at going back to college and upskilling, by converting their H1B to F1 (student visa).
