A postgraduate student at Osmania University in Hyderabad has expressed disappointment over the university's policy of awarding gold medals only to toppers of courses that have sponsors. The student, who topped the MSc Genetics program, questioned the fairness of this arrangement and highlighted the lack of recognition for her achievement. The university's vice-chancellor stated that while the policy has been in place for years, they are considering making an exception in this case and awarding the student a medal at the convocation. Currently, 23 out of 53 university departments have no sponsors for gold medals.
