HC directs IAS officer Smitha to refund Rs 15 lakh legal expenses

Stating that sanction of Rs 15 lakh towards legal expenses to IAS officer Smitha Sabharwal from the exchequer to pursue a defamation case against a news magazine cannot be viewed as an expenditure made for a public purpose, the Telangana high court has ordered the officer to refund the money to the state within 90 days.
