T pays Rs 50cr to 46k dead under ‘Aasara’ scheme

As many as 46,000 beneficiaries of state’s ‘Aasara pension’ have long since been dead, a chance probe by officials has revealed. Officials probing the “leakage” said they suspect that about Rs 50 crore has been released to these ‘dead accounts’ which are very much alive and kicking.
