Since 2021, employees had not received promised accumulated salaries, and payments ceased in June 2024, leading to severe financial strain. Many victims, facing losses up to $250,000, struggled with visa status as a result. The scam’s impact deepened post-Akvarr's acquisition by a third party, which refused to retain employees.
